Sacramento, CA, Dusty Miller formed in summer 2018 when lead singer and song writer Eden Rivas collaborated with her father Jim Rivas (drums, also plays in Rocketship, Holiday Flyer and The Very Most) on their first song called ‘Misconstrued’ which drew positive reviews from those that heard it sighting similarities to The Sundays and Cocteau Twins. A couple of those friends Julian Sharwarko (guitar/songwriter) and Cameron Lawson (bass/Keys) decided to come along for the ride. With 3/4 of the quartet still under the age of 21, this unique grouping has brought together a broad pallet of pop musical styles and fresh dynamics that they can draw from both in the studio and on stage. All 4 share the same influences from 80’s and 90’s Brit jangle pop/dance/goth, but their sound is as unique as each of them. The band’s debut EP “Empathy” was released on September 4, 2020, digitally by Small Bear Records (Isle of Man, UK) and physically via cassettes by Solidarity Club Records (Los Angeles, CA, USA). Dusty Reske (Rocketship) wrote and recorded keyboard parts for a couple of the tracks on the EP, including on the bossanova feel single ‘Focus’ for which they recorded a video available on YouTube. The EP also features a cover of Cocteau Twins’ song ‘Bluebeard’ from their 1993 album “Four Calendar Cafe” on Fontana Records. Dusty Miller, taking their name from the plant, have more music recorded for another release in early 2023, when they look forward to playing live again.
